Sucked in

I have to admit I have recently been sucked in to a few television programs. Mostly reality TV. Mainly smutty programs with no real point to them. You know the ones I am talking about. The ones on VH1 and Oxygen. My favorites are The Bad Girls Club, Rock of Love and of course America's Next Top Model. Not to be left out the few on the national networks, Dancing with the Stars, Survivor and The Bachelor. I have always been a fan of Survivor, since the first season, but the obsession with the others in kinda new. I began watching ANTM in the hospital when I was on bedrest, the reruns were always on, and let's face it, when you are laying in bed 23 hours a day, there is not much else to do. Rock f Love and Bad Girls Club make me laugh, the women on these shows are so trashy, they make me look like the most proper prim princess in all of the land, no I'm serious, they are wickedly horrible. It makes me giggle. It is entertaining. I am missing my all time favorite show Rescue Me. The one starring Dennis Leary. He is a firefighter, post 9-11. It is the best show. I love it! But it has been on hiatus for what seems like forever. It is supposed to begin again in April. Cannot wait. Anyway, I am sitting here watching Dancing with the Stars, folding my 5th load of laundry and it wasn't tickling my fancy all that much, so I thought I would blog...go figure..blogging about watching TV...hmmmm

Cleared

I am a skater again! Whoo Hoot! I was cleared to skate again on Wednesday last week. I have skated the last two practices and so far the legs are doing fantastic. They were a it stiff this morning, but that is to be expected. Practice was great last night. Great workout! i am down 24lbs to date and that is with 2 weeks off. Not too shabby I'd say!
Ciara came over to watch the guilty pleasure after practice last night...Rock of Love...I know..we are crazy...it was a rerun, but we hadn't seen it. we enjoyed some White Russians and burnt pizza. Chloe thought it was pretty cool staying up late with the girls watching TV.
Our first away bout is scheduled for June 6th in the Quad Cities against the Quad Cities Rollers. If you area in that area, let me know...you'll have to come check us out in action!

Slowly coming along

I figure if you can't skate...take pictures. I am a week down with PT. The leg are feeling a little better. Still very tense and tight. My therapist said the calf muscles were significantly looser than they were on Monday but the arterial compartments were still extremely tight and full of fluid. Hopefully with one more full week off skates and lots of water, stretching and visits to him I will be back on skates next week.
Here are some pictures of some of the skater gals at practice Wednesday night. They worked on balance and things of that nature. Also they began learning how to run on toe stops. Looks tricky, can't wait to try it!

Busy Bee

Sugar Mommy has been busy as a bee...get it sugar...honey...nevermind...
Derby is going well. We have had 2 scrimmages in the last two weeks. The first with a team from Cedar Rapids and last night with the Quad City Rollers. Last night was Fantastic! The gals were so sweet and willing to play fair and help one anther. I think both our team and theirs learned a lot. My legs have been hurting A LOT. It started with Derby. It's my lower legs on the outside, from the knee to the ankle. I went to see a physical therapist today. Good and bad. I am off skates for 2 weeks...boohoo. They diagnosed it as arterial compartment syndrome. Sounds painful? Yea it is. Basically the muscles in my lower legs are so tense and working so hard that they are filling with fluid and the pressure builds, causing excruciating pain. The pressure of the muscle is compressing the nerves. Ouch. Wednesday night was so bad I was in tears, and those of you that know me, know that although I am a cryer sometimes, I have a VERY high pain tolerance. Wow, it hurt. The PT said that we need to work on relieving the pressure, get the muscles calmed down and then start slow. I am so gad that I went, as he also told me without treatment and continuous muscle strain and pressure could b very dangerous on many levels. Also mentioned surgery if we are unable to get the pressure down. He was confident that we would be able to get it down. I will see him twice a week for now and see how things progress. Good news, I will still be able to continue skating, just have to take a break. I also learned today that I have very mobile ankles (good for a skater) and that my hips and thigh muscles are very strong. He said this was great especially when I was on bed rest for 10 weeks with the beauties. Good to know I didn't lose all my muscle tone while laying in bed "baking babies". Small set backs, right?

Tax Man

Stinky...the tax man. We decided to save a little money and do our own taxes this year. Matt always did his own before we were married. But for the last six years we have been going to a CPA. We learned so much about it by doing it ourselves. It was so easy and fast too.
I am so excited I just had to write about it...Matt "gave" me a new camera for my birthday/anniversary gift last fall. I emphasize "gave" because it was more of a someday we will get it type gift. Someday when we have a little extra to throw around. We can finally make the purchase in a few weeks! Yea! I am so pumped! Thanks Matty for working so hard to support our family. You are truly the MAN.

Hero

"Somebody's Hero"
She's never pulled anyone from a burning building
She's never rocked Central Park to a half a million fans, screaming out her name
She's never hit a shot to win the game
She's never left her footprints on the moon
She's never made a solo hot air balloon ride, around the world,
No, she's just your everyday average girl (but)
She's somebody's hero
A hero to her baby with a skinned up knee
A little kiss is all she needs
The keeper of the cheerios
The voice that brings Snow White to life
Bedtime stories every night
And that smile lets her know
She's somebody's hero
She didn't get a check every week like a nine-to fiver
But she's been a waiter, and a cook and a taxi driver
For twenty years, there at home, until the day her girl was grown
Giving all her love to her was her life's ambition
But now her baby's movin' on, and she'll soon be missin' her
But not today, those are tears of joy runnin' down her face
She's somebody's hero
A hero to her daughter in her wedding dress
She gave her wings to leave the nest
It hurts to let her baby go down the aisle she walks right by
Looks back into her mother's eyes
And that smile lets her knowShe's somebody's hero
Thirty years have flown right past
Her daughters' starin' at all the photographs
Of her mother, and she wishes she could be like that
Oh, but she already is
She's somebody's hero
A hero to her mother in a rockin' chair
She runs a brush through her silver hair
The envy of the nursing home
She drops by every afternoon
Feeds her mama with a spoon
And that smile lets her know
Her mother's smile lets her know
She's somebody's hero

Sugar Mommy out on the loose

I have been on the go this last week. I must say it has been fun to get out a bit more than usual.
Last weekend I went with several "skater buddies" to Sioux City to see a Roller Derby bout. It is normally about a five hour drive, we made it in about seven. (The road conditions were terrible.) It was a great time though. The bout was fabulous and we were able to meet and chat with the other teams. We spent the night in Sioux City and headed home Sunday. Last night I took Chloe to her very first bout. We went along with most of the gals from the team. The bout last night was in Davenport. So much closer to home. Chloe loved it! She is my biggest fan! My little skater girl. There were four different teams represented in the bout. It was great to see the "Derby Love." We met and talked to several other skaters and hopefully we will be getting some scrimmages set up soon. We are ready to go! I am a bit nervous but very excited! By the way, I have lost 17 lbs since the middle of November! Yeah! Go Derby Momma! So there is my reason behind the blogging pause...hope you missed me ...wink wink...

The first injury

No it is not me.
Hitzy Blonde broke her ankle in 3 places at practice last night. Poor thing.
She will be out 4-8 weeks. I am thinking of her!

Not many roses today

I have to start...just for clarification...not that any is needed, but I guess it makes me feel better about venting...I love being a Mommy. I love EVERY single thing about it. Yes, even the tough times. I try not to complain. I know how fortunate I am. God has touched my heart. I know this. I thank HIM everyday for all that I have.
That being said...this is after all Sugar Mommy's blog...and I need to get it off my chest. I found over the last year that I do this best in writing, so here goes.
Chloe was such an easy toddler. One of her, one of me. She was not a messy baby. She didn't fight (no one to fight with) but still. She always loved being snuggled and even though she "still" sleeps with us, she slept through the night (with us). Now as she nears the five year mark...she is very smart...she argues with Mommy. I know this is normal but I thought I had a few years left before it really started. When she is told o she goes into full blown tantrum. She is still sleeping with us, oh sorry, did I mention that already? How do I get her in her own bed so that I can have a peaceful nights rest? One without feet in my ribs, elbows to the face, slaps to the cheek, having to get up and switch sides because I am pushed to the very edge (in a king bed) and having someone on top of me most of the night? Another thing...what is up with the messy room? Seriously...I knew it would happen but she is four and she changes her clothing more than any sixteen year old I have ever seen? Where do the clothes go you ask...yea the floor. Who puts them away you ask? Time after time after time. Yea...not Chloe.
The triplets...once so tiny...are full blown almost two-year olds. I thought things would be a bit easier as they grew a bit older. However, I think they are getting more and more difficult. Yes, they are sleeping through the night. Bonus on my end. The days however...WOW. They cry, they fight, they bite, they pull hair, they ALL want Mommy at the same time. They have all been battling this cold crud for a few weeks now. But they are so crabby all of the time. They will not take regular naps, just short ones most days. I feel like I am in heaven when the actually take an hour and a half nap maybe twice a week. Let's just say they are not ready to forfeit their nap yet. Neither am I! I need that small amount of time to revamp for the rest of the day and evening. What am I doing wrong. They are the most messy eaters! I need some help on this one. Meal times have become a case for The Nanny! Seriously...every meal looks like a food fight took place in my kitchen! I feel like I cannot keep up! I know they are toddlers. I just think I need some advice on my end of things to cope with it better. I am emotionally exhausted. I am normally a fairly organized woman. However, right now...my home looks like a couple gang punks ransacked everything looking for diamonds. Either that or a toy store threw up in here. There is literally stuff EVERYWHERE! Toys, laundry, stuff we don't have room for...clutter. I need to be on that organizing show, you know the one on TLC? So if you want to nominate me...I am game.
Matty is working so much overtime! I try not to complain, because we need the extra money. But it really is very difficult to be at home all day and all night just the Beauties and I. I miss him, they miss him.
I know I already said it...but I am emotionally exhausted. I feel so much older than I should feel. I feel grouchy and anxious.
I love my life. Good times and Bad times. I wouldn't trade anything that I have for easier times. Just looking for some advice. Maybe a little encouragement. All I want is to be the best Mommy I can be.

I guess I just needed to get that out so I didn't blow.
Thank you for listening...to me vent.
