Suggestions welcome

Happy Friday to you. I am so enjoying this fall weather! I must say though I do miss my BFF...hope you miss me too.

Matt and I have been talking about the purchase of a new camera. "Talking" being the keyword. More like wishing on my part. The other night I wanted to throw the good ole "pos" camera we have in the trash...every shot I took was 2 seconds too late, or blurred or both! The beauty of a point and shoot style. Anyway, we have been looking and comparing different D-SLR cameras. Obviously, a lot of research needs to be put forth before the purchase. We will not be making another camera purchase for a very long time. He surprised me the other night, and said he would like me to start looking more seriously. When I questioned why...he said he had been saving overtime money and he and the Little Beauties would like to "give" me a new camera for my birthday in a few weeks. I am so excited! So long story short, we have been looking and comparing and looking and comparing some more! I would LOVE to hear pros/cons/suggestions on models that you may be familiar with/own/want. Please...tell me what you can...
